Since last year, the Indy scene in Atlanta has been anxiously waiting for the next K.R.E.A.M. Team and Friends showcase. On Thursday, December 21st, they gave the people what they wanted. This time around they got into the Christmas spirit and decked the halls of the hottest bar in Atlanta, The Music Room, with some of the hottest artist in the city. The set list featured local legends in the making and the soulful artist of K.R.E.A.M. Team. With artist such as Sonya Williams, King Jai, and Skipper Jones, K.R.E.A.M. Team and Friends showcased the future of hip-hop in Atlanta. “K.R.E.A.M. Team and Friends is a premiere showcase in Atlanta that guarantees a full audience and exposure for local artists”, said K.R.E.A.M. Team artist G. Selph.
After an energizing opening DJ set by DJ Centurii, the show was underway. The show started off with Duka who had the crowd hanging onto every soul intensifying lyric and set the standard for the night. As the show progressed, artist after artist graced the stage and displayed why they are some of the next artist to blow. The raw talent and passion from each of the artist kept the energy high set after set. “K.R.E.A.M. Team and Friends is a platform for real independent artist to connect”, said local rap sensation King Jai. Not only did The K.R.E.A.M. present up and coming artist, they also got a chance to showcase their philanthropic side midway through the night when they presented an official K.R.E.A.M. Team windbreaker to a young man battling cancer.
Shortly after midnight, the highlight of the show happened- K.R.E.A.M. Team graced the stage. G. Selph took the mic first and lit the stage with hits such as “Devils Kitchen” and “Somethin’s Goin’ On”. His tenacious energy and stormy voice captivated the audience and brought them into the world of “G Dot”. G. Selph closed out his set with the smokers anthem “Smoke Sum” alongside King Elway and Shem Baker. Next to take the stage was Kado Dupre. Kado Dupre truly brought the party to the stage. His single “Dance” got the crowd moving and turned the showcase into an old school “house party”. From swooning the ladies in the audience to moon walking across the stage to swinging from the overhead lights, Kado Dupre took the vibe of the showcase to a whole ‘nother level. He ended his performance with his new Christmas song “Jingle and Joy” featuring Shay Monroe. “Jingle and Joy” put the audience in the Christmas spirit and reminded them what the season is all about. The musical rotation ended with the king of Indy kings, King Elway. His “Old Atlanta” sound had the audience yelling “Let them haters do they thang that’s free promotion” while vibing out to his single “Free Promo”. He later invited Kado Dupre, Lamar and Sonya Williams on stage with him to perform the soulful ballad “Home Again”. Towards the end of the song, the entire “K.R.E.A.M. Team joined the artist on stage and sung along to the track. ‘Home Again” and the display of the entire team was the perfect way to close out a showcase filled with good music, good vibes, and good people.
